The Right One
Choosing the Right Horse
Step 1
Before getting a horse you need to choose the style you want to ride such as western or English. English riding would be fancy and posh with decorations and including wearing a helmet. While western is more casual and freestyle. For me I like English riding more than Western so it's up to you what you like.
Step 2
It's the fun part you get to choose the color of your horse.Even though colors are not as important as the characteristic of your horse most owners like to choose the color of the horse that they would like. There are so many combinations of colors. You can go to this link to look at some colors there are.

Step 3
Test it before you buy it. You should always test your horse before you buy it. It's not only about how pretty your horse is but you need to be comfortable ridding the horse and knows that it can do what you tell it to do. This is the most important thing.
Step 4
Select a discipline. You already choose the style your riding now you have to choose the discipline. The style of riding there are many events and discipline. For English:
-Dressage
-Showjumping
-3 day event
-Hack
-Hunt Seat
-Equitation
-Show Riding
For Western:
-Western Pleasure
-Western Horsemanship
-Equitation
-Trail
-Reining
-Western Riding
-Showmanship
-Western Halter
There are also events that are neither in Western or English Riding such as,
Polo
Cross Polo
Cross country
Vaulting (Gymnastics on Horseback)
Gymkhana Riding
Mounted Games
Step 5
Here are some recommendations of breeds of horses for your dicipline.
-Showjumping/Cross Country:
Stock Horses through to Appaloosas to Pony breeds and Mustangs. (Don't ride HOT horses if you are a beginner because jumping can increase their excitement level.)
-Western: The western breeds are Appaloosa, Paint, Quarter
Horse,
-Dressage: The ponies or horses that suits with dressage best are TB's, Warm bloods, Lipizzaner's
and Connemara's
-Gymnastic Riding: These horses are best to do gymnastic on Lipizzaner's, Connemara, Percheron, Appaloosa,
Paint etc.
